Earlier this week Australian ISP iiNet released information about their new plans going live in a few hours from now, contained in said plans, are Australia’s first 1TB of Quota plans, then iPrimus yesterday released their 1.1TB plans as they followed suit.

This is a nice and needed step forward for the cyber life of Australia, as High Definition content is becoming the standard, and online distribution is blooming faster than a Sunflower on Speed, besides the speed to get and receive, we need the quota/allowance to actually finish the getting and receiving.

But there is always Naysayers to the needed Chicken Littles. Today I will speak of The Naysayer Paul Budde.

See the above link for all of it, but in quick summery, he says there is no need for it, and barely anyone would even reach it, with legal/legitimate means or illegal/illegitimate means.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

As I said above, HD content is becoming standard, and in more demand for what is produced and available for people, as well as the internet is slipstreaming into everyday life at a speedy rate, with iPhones and iPads, to fridges and radios (media players) to Blu-Ray players and your favourite gaming console, such as the Sony Playstation 3 AKA PS3

As more and more things use and require the internet to function to it’s fullest, or even to just function at all (Assassins Creed II Ubisoft’s way of piracy protection, internet connection required while you are playing, loss of internet, game stops, internet reconnects, game resumes) now add the HD thing, and BAM the MB’s start turning into GB’s quite quickly and start to amass an army.

Now lets do some numbers so you can get the idea. I’ll be using rough average sizes as well, as 1000MB=1GB, the way HDD’s do it, because it’s easier.

Ye ol’ Standard Definition content:
Movie: 700MB
1TB quota/700MB Movie=1428~ Movies a Month
Hour Long TV Show: 350MB (Without the ad’s they are actually only around 40mins long)
1TB quota/350MB Show=2857~ Episodes a Month

Nice New High Definition content that is fastly becoming the standard:
Movie(1080p): 8GB
1TB quota/8GB Movie=125 Movies a Month
Hour Long TV Show(720p): 1.12GB
1TB quota/1.12GB Show=892~ Episodes a Month

A pretty big difference huh?

Now lets lay it all down in actual proper use numbers style, because people aren’t going to just be watching movies or tv shows, and every house will obviously be different and do somethings or not do some things that others will or will not, so we will try do a fairly normal that that is a bit average and uses bits of as many things as possible.

Lets say we have a common house of 4, Papa, Mamma, Son & Daughter.
In the house, there are 3 computers and 1 laptop, so for ease, we’ll just say 4 computers, one to each person in the household.
Let’s say they are fairly well equip with some of the newer things in life.
So there is the Playstation 3, the  Sony Bravia TV, the Sony Blu-Ray Player, and the Sony Media Player.
Papa likes the ol’ war movies and war documentaries as well as those old time rock and roll tv hits, so each month lets say he gets at most 5 movies a month, and 3 TV episodes.
Mamma likes all her soaps, musicals, crime/mysteries and the such, so each month Mamma gets 9 movies and 27 TV episodes.
Son likes his action, comedy, hip-hop street smart wise white cracker guy skatering sporty for the hood stuff, so lets say he does 16 movies a month and 34 episodes of TV.
Lastly Daughter likes the romance, drama, music stuff, so a month she does 15 movies a month and 26 episodes.

Lets add it all up so far.
Movies: 45
TV: 90
Movies=360GB+TV=100~GB=460GB a Month

That’s nearly half way already, and that’s on just movies and TV shows alone. Now lets say Son likes to game, so he has the Sony Playstation 3, with the Sony Bravia TV. Games have updates, patches, Downloadable Content, trailers, demos and all sorts of stuff on top of the online gaming…oh and all the Playstation Network games and Playstation Classic games. I cannot give much of an example because I do not own one sadly :( but lets give him a fair easy 15GB at most a month. Now onto his PC gaming, so obviously, Steam, constant updates and patches, continual new games being released, Son being a pretty normal Son Gamer, buys say 5 games maybe a month at most, games going from these days, on average, new releases, 3GB to 15GB, so lets give him for his new games plus updates and all that for the month 40GB. Now lets add in a standard 5GB for website viewing, movie trailer watching, email reading, webcam ogling, and all other stuff.
Son Total: 60GB

Now the Daughter…not too sure on what Daughter does and gets up to, so lets say just the general amount for her with some bonus, so mass youtube watching, myspace/facebook, band websites, internet radio, music video streaming, email, websites, emails and all that stuff, 15GB
Daughter Total: 15GB

Mamma roughly the same as Daughter, but much less, so she can just go with the standard normal use amount for websites, emails, general youtube and social networks and such, maybe some food website podcasts and what not, which we give her 5GB for.
Mamma Total 5GB

Papa, he has work at home stuff, maybe has to connect to his business computer at the office, do various other things, plus all the general stuff, so lets give him a nice standard with a little extra for all his extra stuff…you know…there might be…that kind of stuff…that we didn’t add in for Son…because he’s too busy playing with his Playstation’s controllers joysticks, but maybe not, still, all the business stuff, youtube, emails, lots of emails due to business as well, and all that, so he can get 10GB for that.
Papa Total 10GB

Now, everyone’s personal amount added up:
90GB+Movies and TV Shows=550GB

Now lets add all the 4 computers system and software updates, such as Windows updates and what not, lets say, a month, for all of them, 10GB at most. Now lets say they all each have an iPod or iPhone or various other iApple device or portable media playing device, with all the itune use for getting the music, movies, and tv shows for them all, lets say 60GB to be fair (60GB=Papa=5GB+Mamma=10GB+Son=15GB+Daughter=30GB) That’s for all the music, music videos, episodes, movies, and whatever else people get for their ipods, this number however I am not really sure on, as I don’t have an iDevice, but many people do so it has to be included.
Now lets add say 10GB for visitors, when friends, or relatives come to stay, maybe they bring a laptop, maybe they use one of the four, they do some business stuff? they play some games? they click on a pop up ad that says the computer has a virus, thus actually then giving the computer a virus and then the computer need to be reformatted and all windows updates and everything else needs to be re downloaded? stuff like that, plus bonus tv shows and movies.
And lastly lets just say a general 20GB for everything and anything else.
Last Addings Totals:
100GB

Total Monthly Usage:
650GB

650GB is over half way, which isn’t too bad at all, now, lets add in two last things. One, you’re not meant to hit and use up all of your quota, hence why you get shaped, as a penalty when you exceed your limit, much like a car and petrol, you don’t use it all up before you refill. And Two, the 1TB plans are the highest high end plans, so they are of course not designed for the common most household, they are designed for the larger houses, the more tech/internet savvy people.
Well there we go, I used up some hours of late night/early morning boredom, plus got in a nice long post…kind of maybe pretty pointless really, but ehh, oh well, I needed to start somewhere on getting back into writing, so I started with this.

Been a while…Last post has to do with a story/book I am working on, more about that another time, thought best I just do a quick update.

Comic Shop I am opening, very close now, very close indeed.
Started a Vlog thing on the Youtube, so far only one episode, but am hoping to do the second in the next day or so, more about this another time though.
I want a pink dinosaur doughnut :(
Steam is killing me! so many great sales past few days and still more to come, so many games, so many GB’s, my new 500GB HDD arrives later today in day light hours, as well as my Media player ;) more on that very soon too.
Got new headset, then got new new headset, didn’t like new new, so went back to just normal new.
Went to local Botanical Gardens for a Japanese Children’s Day Festival thingy, got to do my first photo shoot session with 2 Cosplay Girls! was AWESOME! O: so cool, I should have some of the prints from it arriving tomorrow.
I had a birthday, am now very old :(

That’s about it I guess? umm…oh, best friend ran away to UNI, replaced him with people from local Anime group thingy haha.

The Rising is coming…

Life today is pathetic, how far society as a whole has fallen, they say How the mighty have fallen, but it is not just the mighty, it is humankind in total.

The closeness has been lost, people would learn things from their parents or grandparents, but no more, it’s off to school to ‘learn’ and become ‘prepared’ for life, or on the internet and learning how to do pointless things, or better yet, doing nothing at all, collecting your government payments which you live on, the reason for living on? No real reason, no real point in their life.

Primarily speaking of public school, after the first few years, if even at all, you stop learning, they stop teaching, everyone stops caring, but what do these people end up becoming? They end up becoming small business owners, police officers, school teachers or counsellors and many other things, but with their pathetic growing, they are but toxic infections in society, draining the last of the good that is left, even worse if they are overly rich and have the power to do whatever they want.

What is worse than a pathetic leech? One with intellect.

Although I do not like to acknowledge they have some sort of intelligence, it is true, they can, and they are much more then the lazy wastes of space.

Because of the lost of touch and closeness, people no longer show kindness and compassion to others, especially those they do not know.

There is a man assaulting his girlfriend.
Does it matter you don’t know either of them?
No.
But do people in this day and age do anything?
No.

People used to do the right thing…because it was the right thing, but now? Now if there is no connection to a person, if they are completely unknown to you, then they believe they are exempt from doing something, they’re not involved and they don’t want to get involved.

A female is assaulted, everyone is involved.

But this problem goes even further, I was once told “Locks only keep honest people honest” if people are doing as they please and no one is confronting them, because what they are doing is the wrong thing, then more people will commit the act, because who will stand up to them? You didn’t before? You won’t now, no one will bar a select few in this world.

That select few are the people who are needed to be our leaders, our role models, our true real life heroes, they are the people, that because of their righteousness will bring out the good in others, and will move them, move them to change, move them to take a stand the next time they see someone being beaten, picked on, taken advantage of, but there are less of those in the correct positions then is actually needed, we need more of them, but Evil has and is prevailing, keeping these do gooders in check and under thumb.

But not for much longer…

The time is coming when many of the good at heart people will take rise and will do what is needed to make the much needed change in this world.

The problem?

Good at heart people, not all, of course not, but many yes, because of how this world is now and how it has treated them especially, taken advantage of them and abused them, it has changed them, deformed, altered, made different, which is why The Rising isn’t going to be something that is pretty, clean, easy, or nice at face value, it will be dirty, it will be messy, it will be painful, and it will be bloody.

Your neighbour abuses their wife, You Will Rise, and remove the vile corrosive Evil.

Your best friend’s parents assault him/her, You Will Rise, and remove the vile corrosive Evil.

Your local police officer doesn’t do their job because the person knows them, because of this, the said person carries on selling drugs to children, You Will Rise, and remove the vile corrosive Evil.

The Law is something that no longer protects society or humankind, that is why the Law will be taken into people’s own hands.

When the good rise up, they will be the ones who will make that child abuser pay where the law didn’t, they will be the ones who will make the mother who drowned her 3 children pay where the law didn’t, they will be the ones who will make the husband who raped his wife pay where the law did not, they will be the true human form savours for the generation and those to follow.

Let’s Begin.

I was asked a question not too long ago, well more of a series of questions and asking for information about a thing or two, computer related of course. Only to then after the long tedious amount of an 1 hour or so…or so it felt like anyway, have them throw away all which I had said and explained to them and say I don’t know what I am talking about…
Why even ask me? I have no idea, it just seemed like a waste of time, for both parties.
Now I know some people can be full of complete turkey fodder, but even so, when you have no actually knowledge on the topic, you can’t just say they don’t know what they are talking about, especially when it’s a hillbilly to me about computers, it’s like

Hillbilly: HD Me?
Me: …P2P?
Hillbilly: OMG!
Of course they’d know of Peer to Peerness and all the Torrent related things, to a very small limited degree, but only about as much as
Torrents: Way to get all super cool stuff for free.
instead of something that has more in it then just free illegal downloads
Torrents: Way to get things (possibly) faster and less server side bandwidth intensive…Legal things at that…such as Linux Distros…and legal free MMORPG’s

If you are going to ask someone for information and help, if you don’t think it is correct, then fine, but there’s not need to even say then that they don’t know what they are talking about…EVEN MORE SO if they are in the profession work subject area thingy of it…where as you the hillbilly are in the profession and work subject area of being a hillbilly and slack jawed yak.
